This winter transfer market is always a period of significant rumour and potential big-money moves. Several high-profile players are being linked with moves out of their present teams. We examine some of the top figures that might be changing clubs in January.

A. Semenyo

Despite the Black Stars' failure to qualify for the AFCON, this has kept the forward available, reports suggest a major move is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker has a contract featuring a substantial buy-out clause applicable for a two-week window in early January. Latest developments suggest the Premier League champions have emerged as his services. Other suitors like Chelsea and Tottenham are said to have moved on to other options, leaving clubs such as Manchester United or Liverpool to make a last-minute move.

M. Guéhi

This England centre-back has continued to impress for Palace despite a summer move to Liverpool collapsing. With his deal due to expire in the close season, this represents the club's last opportunity to obtain a fee for their captain. Numerous top clubs, including Manchester City and several European giants including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, reportedly be interested. However, a January exit is considered unlikely, especially given the coach's reliance on the player.

Brennan Johnson

This Welsh forward has had first-team opportunities limited at Spurs this campaign. Although finishing as the club's top scorer the previous campaign, he has begun just a handful of league games. It is understood the London outfit is open to a transfer for the right valuation, thought to be in the region of forty million pounds. Bournemouth are currently at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also showing an interest.

Spurs rate the Welsh international at around £40m.

Rúben Neves

The Portuguese midfielder might be poised for a return to the Premier League following a spell in the Saudi Pro League. Still only 28, and with his agreement ending in the summer, he represents a possible bargain. Teams like Liverpool and Manchester United are linked with the former Wolves man. Additionally, there are rumours from Spain that he would be willing to take a reduced salary for a switch to Real Madrid.

M. ter Stegen

This veteran German goalkeeper finds himself as the third option at Barça following new coach Hansi Flick. Having lost his place and had an operation, a January departure seems increasingly probable. Aston Villa were initially mentioned as a potential suitor, but that move now appears off. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be showing interest in the 33-year-old.

I. Toney

This prolific England striker has continued finding the net regularly in the Middle East. A return to the Premier League might boost his dwindling hopes of being in the national World Cup. However, arranging a transfer presents significant challenges. Al-Ahli are reluctant to part with him, and his reported huge salary make any move difficult. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton are all mentioned as interested parties.

Ivan Toney was instrumental as his Saudi club to a win in the domestic cup final.

C. Gallagher

This dynamic English midfielder drew considerable attention in the summer but remained at Atlético. Having limited starting appearances in La Liga this season, he is keen to find more playing time ahead of the World Cup. United are heavily linked, and a move back to Crystal Palace, where he shone on a temporary deal, remains a option, although financial constraints might prove a stumbling block.

H. Elliott

Despite excelling and being named player of the tournament at the U21 Euros in the summer, the young player has struggled for game time on loan at Aston Villa. Unai Emery has confirmed the loan move won't become permanent. Due to FIFA regulations about representing two clubs in a season, a return to his parent club before next summer appears to be the sole available outcome.

Kenan Yildiz

This exciting Turkish attacker is in excellent form for the Italian giants this season. With his current contract running down, a host of Premier League clubs – including Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Liverpool – are monitoring the developments. Juventus are desperate to tie down the 20-year-old to a lengthy agreement but face a battle to keep one of Europe's brightest young talents.

Kees Smit

The much-admired Dutch teenage midfielder has drawn parallels to Kevin De Bruyne for his playing style. Following impressing at the U19 Euros, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar side. The 19-year-old is widely tipped to complete a big-money move this month. Newcastle reportedly are frontrunners, but could face strong competition from Real Madrid for a deal valued at approximately twenty-two million pounds.
